Tummy fat

" Try eliminating wheat and gluten containing foods from your diet for a week and see if you notice any improvement of your tummy."

Question:

I have an issue with my tummy. I have what I think is a large pot belly. My partner tells me I don't but I can see it. I am only 60kg but I feel I look like I weigh more because of my tummy. Do you have any diet tips on how to reduce this? I seem to have a semi-flat tummy in the morning as soon as I wake up and have breakfast I get "fat" again. Help!

Response:

You may have a food intolerance that is causing the bloating. Wheat and gluten are common offenders for many people. Dairy foods are another common food people are intolerant to. Try eliminating wheat and gluten containing foods from your diet for a week and see if you notice any improvement of your tummy.

People with food intolerances will also usually have other digestive problems such as flatulence, cramping, constipation or diarrhoea. There are lots of gluten-free breads, pasta and breakfast cereals available. Try gluten-free grains such as brown rice, quinoa, millet or amaranth. Exercise is also important and regular cardio and core strengthening exercises, yoga and Pilates are great for this.
