Question:

I feel like I'm getting run down and scared that my immune system isn't very strong as I tend to get colds or flu a lot during winter, so wondering if there are any foods or supplements that I should be taking to help? There are so many people on the trains and at work who seem to have colds and spreading germs, so I just want to protect myself.

Response:
This winter there has been a huge increase in the number of people falling ill with colds and flu. The best way you can protect yourself is by eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegies that are rich in vitamins A and C and antioxidants, all important for boosting your immune health. Including immune boosting foods in the diet is another great way of protecting yourself this winter, try some seaweed, ginger, garlic, miso, onion and yoghurt. Taking immune strengthening nutritional supplements throughout winter is one of the best ways to reduce your chances of getting sick. I recommend vitamin C with zinc, kyolic aged garlic tablets, and some andrographis or Echinacea herbal tablets. You can also drink echinacea as a tea. I would also be carrying a hand sanitiser in your bag and use it after you've been on public transport.
