Lisa Wilkinson;Wife, mother and host of the TODAY show
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
That my ambition was to be a ballet dancer. I started at the age of four and studied until I was 15, and loved it. But I got teased about it at school and, stupidly, gave it up.
What's your ultimate self-indulgence?
Some call it an indulgence; I call it one of our essential food groups: chocolate.
What's the most memorable story you've ever covered?
Breaking the news live that Heath Ledger had been found dead in New York. He was a great talent, and at the start of his career.
Ever been star-struck?
I was blown away meeting George Harrison. I was at a dinner with him and some mutual friends. I became incapable of speech! I've kicked myself ever since.
How do you relax and wind down?
By throwing on the trackie daks, sandshoes, iPod, and grabbing the dog and going for a walk. And I've become a huge fan of sleep in the last year or so.
What do you enjoy most about TODAY?
The adrenaline that comes with live television, interviewing a diverse range of people, our audience, and the team we have on the show.
Do you find it difficult to balance a busy career and motherhood?
There are days when you get it wrong and days when it works. I think if you're lucky enough to have met the right person, you have the same goals in mind, and you can make each other laugh, you're off to a good start.
What is your signature scent?
Chanel No 5.
Why did you become involved with Blackmores Sydney Running Festival?
I love the fact that it's a community event and everyone of every fitness level is welcome. We want as many people as possible to come along and enjoy the day.
