Sportscraft ambassador Kristy Hinze talks with Kate Minogue about how she stays fit, and why her husband calls her "Mrs Positive"

I've found it's not as easy for me to stay lean as it used to be. So, although exercise is something I would do anyway because I love it, I do have to do it for work. I'm quite fit at the moment. I go to the gym and work with a trainer a couple of times a week. But I also love playing tennis, golf, and I do Pilates and yoga. I love to do different things because I tend to get bored.

I'm not big on crash diets. I don't think they work. I don't really deny myself anything if I really want it. I think by doing that I don't crave anything. I love fresh produce and delicious food. I think things that are healthiest are the yummiest. It works for me.

I'm a big advocate of juice. I'll often make a celery, carrot, apple, ginger and beetroot juice for breakfast and I find it keeps me going until lunch. If I'm really hungry, I love avocado on toast with tomatoes and poached eggs. If I'm going out for lunch, I'll usually have fish, and at home I'll just make myself a turkey and cheese sandwich. It's not as though I don't eat certain things after a certain time so for dinner I'll just have whatever. I'm not a big fan of red meat but sometimes I'll feel like a steak.

Staying healthy, eating well and exercising gives me self-confidence. I go for a run and I feel more confident about myself. Exercise and having some time to myself helps to make me feel clearer and gives me energy to get going. It's so important for me to get an hour of exercise every day — it changes my whole day because I have done something for myself.

It's good to give yourself a little time. We give so much time to other people, if you don't give back to yourself that's when you get a bit down or depressed. But I tend to mostly look at the bright side of every situation. My husband calls me Mrs Positive.

Working with Sportscraft has been fun because I've been able to collaborate on some of the designs. I'm not a designer, but I love having an input. I do play a lot of golf and I was able to let them know what I like to wear for the golf range, where you need pockets and that sort of thing. It was a natural fit for me to work with Sportscraft. It's such an iconic Australian brand and that's how I like to dress anyway. I wear their trench coats and their shirts.
