Treadmills are a great home workout tool as they are easy to use and offer time efficient workouts.

Question:
I am 35 years-old and I need to loose 10kg. I started following a weight-loss program. I have access to a treadmill so how often and what time limit do I use to get maximum weight loss? I am a stay-at-home mum.

Answer:

Treadmills are a great home workout tool as they are easy to use and offer time efficient workouts. Aim to use the treadmill for 30 minutes, five to six days per week and if you have time an additional 10 minutes each workout for either stretching or a combination of upper/lower body and core exercises

Below is a sample of treadmill workouts that you can use at home:

  • One-minute jog plus four-minute walk. Repeat six times (total of 30 minutes)
  • Thirty-minute fast walk on level two incline: increase the incline by two every five minutes
  • Thirty-minute jog on treadmill alternating between five minutes easy running and five minutes fast running
  • Five-minute walk/jog on treadmill followed by 20 squats/20 push-ups/20 abdominal crunches. Repeat five times
