Taking a shower first thing in the morning is the perfect way to invigorate the body before starting a busy day but a new study shows that a ‘shower break’ at work can increase motivation and productivity.

The research was carried out by UK PR company Lucre, for their client, Mira Showers, the UK's Daily Telegraph reported. Lucre initiated a two-month program where employees across different types of businesses — hospitality, architecture, design and retail — took a shower break during office hours.

The employees were then instructed to fill in a daily questionnaire to establish the effects of the new routine over the test period. The final results showed staff saw an overall increase of productivity by 42 percent and a 33 percent rise in creativity.

While not all working environments are equipped with showers, for those of us who do have the option, it may be a theory worth testing!
