Eat your way handsome

Want to look more Adonis than Elephant Man? Being better looking is actually easier than you might think. And you don’t need to spend a fortune on lotions and potions to become instantly more attractive to the fairer sex. Just follow our five simple food rules…

Baldness

Baldness is often hereditary, but can also be down to work stress and an unhealthy fast food-heavy diet. Being undernourished is the best way to save on barber’s bills, but you can hang on to your hair with the help of eggs. The iron content in eggs can help prevent hair loss, while the vitamin B can help you deal with stress.

Red eye

Are you arriving in the office like you’ve just walked off a long-haul flight? Then make sure you get your greens, particularly the stuff that Popeye favours. Spinach is excellent for eyes as it contains the protective carotenoids, lutein and zeaxanthin, which help keep the whites of your eyes clear. For the best results, attempt to eat it at least three times a week.

Red nose

You know who you are. Excessive drinking has left you looking like Rudolph the reindeer. It’s time to reach for the blueberries. Rich in bioflavonoids, they bolster your blood vessels and prevent them from leaking and breaking. Bung a small punnet on your desk and pick away daily, or chuck a handful into a blender with your protein powder for a great tasting smoothie.

Wrinkles

To avoid looking like a Shar-Pei puppy, make sure you get plenty of vitamin C. Guava is great for fighting fine lines as they have five times more vitamin C than oranges and are high in protective antioxidants that fight the radicals which cause premature ageing. Guava is available in all good supermarkets, so aim for three a week.

Pollution

City grime can take its toll on your looks. Pollution strips the skin of vitamin E, which keeps it smooth, soft and supple. Repair your skin by eating avocados, which are rich vitamin E. Aim for just one a week as they are high in fat. Add to salads or sandwiches.
