The size of a man's penis varies less than is popularly believed. Interestingly, despite popular belief, the size of the unstimulated penis, bears no relation to the man's height.
So what's average?
- The average erect penis measures 16cm (6.3 inches) when measured from tip to base on the upper surface (the side with the wiggly vein).
- Ninety percent of all men fall between the extremes of 14.5cm (5.6 inches) and 17.5cm (7 inches) despite any claims to the contrary.
Size when limp, is not a reliable indication of size when erect.
A limp penis ranges from 7.5cm (3 inches) to 15cm (6 inches) depending on the temperature. The colder it is, the smaller the penis becomes as you've both discovered.
A limp penis generally lengthens by around 5cm (2 inches) when erect and penises that are shorter when limp tend to lengthen proportionately more when erect than the longer ones.
So how important is size?
If we're talking penis-in-vagina sex, as long as the penis can enter the woman's vagina, there is no reason why you can't enjoy intercourse and start a pregnancy if you want to.
Like most women, you'd know that the size of the penis is much more important to your male partner than it is to you. You can tell him that size has absolutely nothing to do with a man's qualities as a lover.
Despite the fact that some actors in porn movies are outrageously well-endowed, having a very long penis may in fact be a bit of a disadvantage. It is harder to keep a strong erection along the length of a long penis, so it may not be as firm or last as long as in a man with a more average sized penis.
