"Make sure he is eating healthy food and isn't resorting to a lot of sugar in an attempt to boost his energy."

Question:

My 13-year-old son is constantly exhausted and his studies are suffering because of it. All his blood work came back normal. What vitamins or supplements can I give him to boost his energy?

Answer:

This sounds like a boy who is doing a lot of growing. When children are experiencing a growth spurt they invariably feel completely wiped out.

I would get him supplements of a mineral mix, containing zinc and magnesium along with other minerals, and a B complex. Make sure he is eating healthy food and isn't resorting to a lot of sugar in an attempt to boost his energy. High sugar consumption will lead to lots of blood sugar drops in the day which gives a feeling of exhaustion and a craving to eat more sugar.
