Persistent candida

Monday, March 29, 2010
"There is a probiotic that is useful to take called saccharomyces boulardii, this is a specific anti-candida bacteria."

Question:

I have had persistent candida for 10 years with my main symptom being vaginal burning. Over the course of the last three weeks I have been on the candida diet and have been taking citrus seed extract, chlorophyll and vitamin C.

Unfortunately, I find the candida diet to be very restrictive and I find it difficult to stick to it for more than five days at a time. I am joining the military in 49 days time and the food available will not be anything close to the candida diet requirements. Do you have any suggestions?

Answer:

The anti-candida diet is indeed hard and very restrictive to stick to for a long time. I find it is a better idea to just avoid all the big yeasts such as Vegemite, cheese, jam, honey, bread, beer and wine. There is a probiotic that is useful to take called saccharomyces boulardii, this is a specific anti-candida bacteria.

It would be a good idea if you could find a naturopath who is also a homeopath to work with you. I find a combination of some dietary modifications, probiotics and a homeopathic remedy work incredibly well.
