Question:
I've been struggling with thrush for about a year now, and am on the contraceptive pill. Do you advise I drink a daily dose of apple-cider vinegar to combat the problem?
Answer:
In some cases, it can be the contraceptive pill that causes thrush. Perhaps consider using some other form of contraception for a while it could be a good idea to go off it for three months. Other than that, you can try a diet that avoids all sugars and yeasts, such as bread, vegemite, peanut butter, honey, jam, and cheese. Avoid all alcohol especially wine and beer. Vodka is allowed with soda and bitters. This diet is very restrictive and quite hard to do, so I advise trying all other methods first.
Taking a probiotic such as an acidophilus mix can help.
I also advise seeing your doctor to get a swab taken to be sure it is candida you're dealing with.
I don't think taking cider vinegar daily is going to solve your problem, but sponging the genital area with a mixture of cider vinegar and warm water at night is wonderful to stop the itching and help you get to sleep.
