My daughter is 13 years of age and is already in an E-cup bra, yet is only 10 at the back. The E-cup is already nearly too small. She can't play sport because it hurts, she has a lot of back pain, neck pain and a great deal of breast pain. What we need to know is what the chances are of a breast reduction at such an early age, as she of course has not yet stopped growing. What are our options or who should I speak to concerning this matter? I would really appreciate your expert advice as I really don't think talking to a GP would give us the knowledge needed.
It is unusual to see such early and rapid growth in the breast and it is undoubtedly causing limitation of activity and pain. In most cases breast surgery at this age would not be advised as the breast has not stopped growing. But there are exceptional cases such as this and a breast reduction would be a consideration.
At this age it would be performed only after long consideration of the pros and cons of the procedure and ensuring everyone was clear on the implications of surgery. This would best be done by a surgeon with experience in paediatric surgery.
