Laser blepharoplasty

Monday, September 8, 2008
Laser surgery uses a light beam to cut the tissue, as opposed to a scalpel.

Question:
I am considering having lower laser blepharoplasty. Can you please tell me if this procedure is safe and also would I need laser resurfacing after it?

Answer:
Laser surgery uses a light beam to cut the tissue, as opposed to a scalpel. The surgical procedure will be the same with scalpel or laser and it depends on the surgeon's preference. The laser resurfacing is a different issue and uses the laser in a different way to tighten the skin and remove wrinkles. It may be possible that laser resurfacing would be required after surgical or laser blepharoplasty depending on what needs to be treated. In well-trained hands, laser surgery is safe. Check the treating doctor's training before the procedure. www.drjeremyhunt.com
