Tired of being tired? We have found the top 10 must-read energy-boosting books that will have you bouncing out of bed with added vigour in no time!

1. Slow Burn by Stu Mittleman

Endurance master Stu Mittleton reveals the three-part program he followed in order to set a world ultra-marathon record. Take his advice and, he says, you too can go the distance.

The first step is to think — Mittleman stresses that it is your attitude that determines how far you go, regardless of whether you're aiming to run your best marathon ever or just boost your energy levels. Next up is training — nothing creates energy like movement and according to Mittleman running at an aerobic, fat-burning pace is the most sustainable form. Finally, a specially-designed nutrition program promises to energise you throughout the day, not just for an hour or so after you've eaten. Mittleman also suggests avoiding pre-packaged foods, drinking plenty of water and eating small meals throughout the day.

2. Sick and Tired? by Robert O Young

Check out microbiologist Dr Robert Young's revolutionary theories about how foods positively and negatively affect the body. Dr Young's principles are simple: he says the over-acidification of food and lifestyle choices leads to the over-growth of micro-organisms, which ultimately leads to disease.

As well as sharing the basic requirements of a healthy diet and nutritional advice, Dr Young also shares some delicious vegetarian recipes.

3. Energy Addict: 101 physical, mental and spiritual ways to energise your life by Jon Gordon

Jon Gordon's Energy Addict contains 101 tools for "energy building". And the best bit is that you don't have to make big lifestyle changes to reap the energy-boosting benefits — in fact, all it takes is small, do-able changes and you'll soon be on your way to a new, more energised you.

As the title suggests, this must-read covers physical, mental and spiritual ways to boost energy stores, as well as top tips on how to create healthy new lifestyle rituals and how to rid yourself of pesky energy-sucking habits.

4. Calm Energy: How people regulate mood with food and exercise by Robert Thayer

Acclaimed mood scientist Robert Thayer points the finger at emotional eating, blaming mood and food on rising levels of obesity. Thayer claims being aware of the relationship between mood and food can lead to increased energy levels, helping you to achieve what he refers to as "calm energy".

5. The 10-minute Energy Solution by Jon Gordon

Here's a quick and easy way to boost energy — in fact, follow this program and you'll be feeling re-energised in just 30 days. Gordon, America's number one energy coach, developed this program, which promises to increase physical, mental and spiritual energy, and the best bit is that all it takes is 10 minutes a day. It doesn't get much easier than that!

6. 365 Energy Boosters by Susannah Seton and Sondra Kornblatt

This daily energy-boosting guide includes one-minute exercises and pick-me-up foods that will leave you feeling full of beans, plus tips on how to track your natural energy cycles, how to get a better night's shut-eye and how to perk yourself up when your energy supplies start to wane.

7. The Emotional Energy Factor: The secrets high-energy people use to beat emotional fatigue by Mira Kirshenbaum

Using a series of real-life anecdotes Kirshenbaum sets out to rid her readers of the 'blahs', and better still, her solutions are simple — just do away with negative thinking.

8. Positive Energy by Judith Orloff

Dr Judith Orloff is the driving force behind what is referred to in medical circles as 'energy psychiatry', a new area of psychiatry that delves into the energetic components of health and behaviour. This must-read explains this new medical myriad and offers what all fatigued, energy-zapped people have been waiting for — 10 fail-safe ways to boost energy levels. Dr Orloff's "10 essential prescriptions" include avoiding technology overload from computers and mobile phones and remembering to laugh. Oh, and pampering yourself also gets a mention!

9. Raw Energy by Leslie Kenton and Susannah Kenton

Want to reverse the effects of illness, slow the ageing process, increase energy levels and improve emotional and mental health? Well, this mother-daughter team say it's as easy as swapping your cooked dinners for a raw alternative. In fact, they say that a "high-raw diet", in which 75 percent of the foods eaten are raw, can even help save the poorly nourished, placing them back in the road to better health.
