Visiting a nudist resort finally helped Kerry Haitt accept her body — and revive her marriage.
"I have always been insecure about my body," Kerry Haitt, from Greenwich in the UK told The Daily Mail.
"Though it may sound silly to some, back then, my body felt like the stuff of nightmares — I have stretch marks, dimples and lots of flabby bits."
In their first year together with her husband Joe, Kerry wouldn't let him see her naked in the daylight, drawing the curtains, or lighting a candle before undressing.
"Joe was concerned by my insecurities, but was nevertheless full of compliments," she said.
"I believed him, yet I couldn’t quite overcome my phobia. Until I tried nudism."
When holidaying in Florida, Joe and Kerry happened across a "clothing optional" hotel and in a spur-of-the-moment decision, booked themselves in.
Once inside the resort, Kerry was astounded by everyone's carefree nature.
"Men and women of all shapes and sizes lounged by the pool sipping cocktails, while others played team sports or chatted," she said. "I saw stretch marks, dimples, tan lines and lots of flabby bits, just like mine. The difference was that these people didn’t care."
After an initial hesitation, Kerry stripped bare and to her complete surprise, no-one looked twice in her direction. All her years of worrying about her body, she realised, had been a complete waste of time.
Kerry and Joe spent the day, sitting by the pool, soaking up the sunshine on their bare skin and even partaking in a game of volleyball!
When driving away from the hotel, Kerry asked her husband if he loved her any less after seeing her naked in the daylight. "I love you more," was his response.
Since then, Kerry and Joe have become addicted to the lifestyle, spending six months in a remote Spanish cottage where they rarely wore clothing.
Kerry said that she has a single nudist resort visit to thank for renewing her marriage and her self-confidence.
"I would never have believed a single visit to a nudist resort could cure my insecurities about my body, but it did.
"Even better, it has transformed me into a more confident person, which Joe loves. And it has helped to strengthen our bond."
