Question:

I am pregnant (according to the test) but my only symptom has been sore breasts. I have already had two children and would usually have experienced extreme nausea, vomiting and a high sensitivity to smells. Why am I not experiencing these things this time? Is this a sign that the pregnancy is not very strong? I'm afraid it will lead to miscarriage, as I have had some in the past.

Answer:
Congratulations on your pregnancy! The most important thing to remember is that like each child, each pregnancy is different. Just because you have one symptom in one pregnancy does not (fortunately or unfortunately) mean you won't have it in the subsequent one.

Morning sickness typically doesn't occur until after six weeks as hormone levels are still adjusting prior to that point. As such, your nausea may still be following unfortunately! If it does, remember that the best cure is sleep as nausea is often a signal from the body to slow down.

Most importantly, I think it is essential that you visit your GP and get a formal pregnancy diagnosis. Your doctor will be able to look at your hormone levels (specifically HCG), which will confirm the pregnancy and also assess the viability of the pregnancy based on the level of the hormone. If it is likely to be a miscarriage make sure you speak to your GP about further investigations.

While common, if you have had a few as you mentioned, it is important that you are thoroughly investigated to ensure that you prevent them in the future.
