Definitions
Cardiovascular fitness: An individual's ability to provide oxygen to the working muscles. It is dependent on heart, lungs and blood vessels.
Muscular strength: Refers to the maximal force that can be generated by a specific muscle or group of muscles.
Muscular endurance: In a nutshell, the ability to last. It's the capacity of a muscle to exert a force repeatedly or consistently for a period of time without tiring.
Flexibility: The capacity of a joint to move through its full range of motion. It is highly specific to each particular joint.
Body composition: The percentages of fat and fat-free body tissue - for example, bone and muscle - that make up our total weight.
Speed: Refers to how fast a movement is performed or the ability to perform it quickly. Speed, while important to the 100m sprinter, isnt particularly relevant to someone who is concerned with general fitness. It is a skill-related component of fitness. Speed is comprised of reaction time (that is, the time takent to react to a given stimulus - for example, the starter's gun), acceleration, maximum speed (how fast) and speed endurance(how long).
In a 20m sprint, acceleration is the main factor being tested.
